Jungle City is no joke. Shifting gears form the riot-stricken urban jungle of London to a more welcoming animal filled city of Edinburgh – Caz Haigh has been busy painting away. Kicking off next week on August 16th, Edinburgh will be transformed into a jungle chalk full of iconic animals, one of them specially named Hati.
In Haigh’s words, “Hati (which means ‘heart’ in the Indonesian language) is a celebration of the wonderful wildlife found within the jungles of Sumatra. Sumatran Orangutan Society and I thought this name was appropriate as orangutans are in many ways the heart of their jungle habitat, playing a vital role in the ecosystem and biodiversity. Hati also means ‘use your heart to do/decide something good’ Featuring 130 life size sculptures of some of the planet’s most endangered species, the event aims to raise £ 1million for their survival.
The event will coincide with the infamous Fringe Festival. The sculptures will then be auctioned online and at a live event.
