This year marks eight years of trading under the Social Fabric umbrella. We thought it would be a good time to reflect back on the name and its meaning. “Social Fabric” really is the glue which holds a society together. It is the bonds which people share, that can help to form a culturally rich and socially cohesive community.
It’s the right people for the right task.
The truth story, is that we hi-jacked the name from long-term multi-media artist, Tim Laurel. Tim is one of those soft spoken, and incredibly prolific types. He is a veteran filmmaker and videographer based in California. Back in the day, Tim was helping a gallery with the working name Social Fabric. For whatever reason, the gallery never happened – but then name struck a chord with us. And the rest as they say, is history.
When the name was abandoned, with Tim’s suggestion (and blessing), we snagged it for good.
The identity – a rotating double helix – evolved organically and communicates one simple idea: the whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts.
