What’s In A Name?

Social-Fabrric-Design

This year marks eight years of trading under the Social Fabric umbrella.  We thought it would be a good time to reflect back on the name and its meaning.  “Social Fabric” really is the glue which holds a society together.  It is the bonds which people share, that can help to form a culturally rich and socially cohesive community.

It’s the right people for the right task.

The truth story, is that we hi-jacked the name from long-term multi-media artist, Tim Laurel.  Tim is one of those soft spoken, and incredibly prolific types.  He is a veteran filmmaker and videographer based in California.  Back in the day, Tim was helping a gallery with the working name Social Fabric. For whatever reason, the gallery never happened – but then name struck a chord with us.  And the rest as they say, is history.

When the name was abandoned, with Tim’s suggestion (and blessing), we snagged it for good.
